5 Natural Ways to Sweeten Your Bath-Time

Baths are like a giant reset button, and they seem to stop time. It’s mental and physical self-love nourishment. Here are a few DIY organic, chemical-free ways to sweeten your me time.

Rose Petals The scent of rose is tender, soothing and uplifting. It is comforting to the heart, has aphrodisiac qualities, and alleviates anxiety and nervous tension. Add a handful of rose petals or your favourite fragrant flower. Make sure they are pesticide-free, or even better, pick them from your garden fresh.

Baking Soda To soothe and soften skin, add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the bath while the water is running. Baking soda also has the benefits of being anti-fungal, and may be useful for yeast infections, eczema, psoriasis, diaper rash, UTI's, or relieve irritation caused by constipation or haemorrhoids.

Olive Oil High in Vitamin E, adding olive oil to your bath will leave your skin soft and smooth. Add a few tablespoons of olive oil to your bathwater for soft and smooth skin. Alternatively, massage your body with olive oil before hopping into your bathtub, then after you finish taking your bath, pat your skin dry and wipe away the excess oil. Just be careful when exiting, as it may leave a slightly slippery surface.

Lavender

This relaxing scent will soothe a weary mind. Add dried lavender to a tea ball and then add to the bath. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of lavender essential oil to bathwater. Mix a few drops with a carrier oil first - use above olive oil for an easy fix. Then add the mixed oils to your bathwater.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Known as the smiley oil, orange is familiar, joyful and warming. It is soothing for the nervous system and beneficial for anxiety, stress and insomnia. As mentioned above, mix a few drops with a carrier oil then add the mixed oils to your bathwater.
